New Zealand Cricket starts process for appointing new coach
“The prospects would be identified after the exact requirements for the position had been determined. This is an essential first step which needs to be completed before any meaningful conversations can be held with potential candidates,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Justin Vaughan, NZC CEO, as saying.
“We shall actively identify potential candidates we want to talk to. I can confirm I have received a number of strong inquiries from both New Zealand and overseas,” he added.
Vaughan did not comment on specifics, or the merits or availability of any particular individual, but said that the current set up with skipper Daniel Vettori running the team was working well.
“Reports back from UAE are that the team are training and preparing well and morale is very positive. The squad has a strong coaching and support team, and Daniel is continuing to provide leadership as captain, with additional input from Mark Greatbatch who is there as a selector,” Vaughan said.
Former coach Andy Moles was forced to resign before the UAE tour after several senior players claimed the Englishman was not up to the task.
