Brett Lee misses the excitement of Test cricket

Brett Lee says that he is disappointed that he will miss the excitement and the challenge of test cricket. The 33-year-old has been hampered by injuries throughout his career and this has prompted him to retire from Test cricket in order to prolong his ODI and Twenty20 career.

"I am satisfied with my Test career and longevity. All those years were really exciting and challenging for me and I will miss those things. It was a tough decision to retire from tests," Lee, who plays for Kings XI Punjab, said.

Lee felt that his body could not take any more Test cricket as it is more demanding and he retired because of his lifestyle.

"I just want to prolong my career in ODIs and Twenty20. I want to play some more matches for Australia and that's the reason why I took the decision to continue playing in shorter formats," said Lee.

The Aussie quick is currently in India to participate in the third edition of the Indian Premier League starting March 12. He wants to test his fitness and pace in the upcoming event in a bid to be selected in the national team for this year's Twenty20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup.

Lee spoke about Australia's apprehension of traveling to India for the IPL in the backdrop of threats from Al-Qaeda and the Shiv Sena.

But Lee rubbished all that and said, "It's great to be back on Indian soil as I love to play here. I know that the crowds would be expecting some good performances from me and I won't let them down."

Lee also highlighted the importance of pace in Twenty20 games and he mentioned that Fast bowling is a part of the game and it is required in all three formats of the game to unsettle the opposition.

"Pace always plays a major role in Twenty20 cricket. It's a fast-paced game and every over counts. So, generation of pace becomes lot more important in T20 format."

When asked about breaking the 160 kph barrier, he said, "I am not thinking of breaking any records. I will not try to break 160 mark barrier set by Shaun Tait as I have already done it in the past. I will generate pace but not with any records in the mind," he stated.
