Younis wants cricketing ties with India to resume as soon as possible

Pakistan cricket captain Younis Khan is eagerly waiting for cricketing ties between India and Pakistan to resume, and has expressed the hope that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ijaz Butt’s meeting with his Indian counterparts would help break the ice.

“I hope he returns home after having positive negotiations with the Indian board officials and there is some progress towards restoring bilateral cricket ties with India,” The Daily Times quoted Khan, as saying.

“Cricket has always served to reduce differences between the people of the two countries and give a boost to friendship,” he added.

Khan said no other encounter has the same importance attached with it than Pakistan’s clash with India on a cricket field.

“I think even our semi-final loss in the ICC Champions Trophy was accepted by the people because we managed to beat India in the group stage,” he said.

Khan said he enjoyed playing against the archrivals the most and rated his epic innings of 267 runs against India at Bangalore in 2005 as one of his best Test innings.
